TEMELEC, Sonoma County — Sonoma County announced an update to its hazard mitigation plan on October 19, 2026, assessing how wildfires, flooding, earthquakes and severe weather could affect local communities.
The plan involves county agencies, cities and special districts and is intended to identify strategies that could lessen damage to homes, infrastructure and essential services. Smaller communities such as Temelec may face practical questions about evacuation routes, vulnerable residents, power interruptions and access to medical facilities. An approved hazard mitigation plan can also help participating jurisdictions remain eligible for certain federal grants.
The October publication describes an ongoing update, not a declaration that every recommended project has been funded or built. A countywide risk description also does not assign the same exposure level to every parcel in Temelec.
Information for residents
Residents can follow the county’s public plan materials, participate in feedback opportunities when offered and make a household preparedness plan. The most important first step is checking local warning channels and confirming individual needs during an evacuation.
